Conference Overview

The Society for Interpersonal Theory and Research is an international and multidisciplinary scientific organization devoted to the advancement of interpersonal theory and research. SITAR 2023 is the 26th annual meeting of the society and will take place in Evanston, Illinois on July 20, 2023. It is co-locating with the Association for Research in Personality (ARP) conference as a preconference.

Conference Program

This year’s one day SITAR conference will feature a keynote by Dr. Lynne Knobloch-Fedders, along with multiple presentations and posters about interpersonal theory and research.

Schedule

The conference will run from 8am-5pm, which includes a provided lunch as well as AM and PM breaks with refreshments. The SITAR dinner will be held at Giordanos (6pm-9pm) and is free to those who register for the conference. The meal includes house salad, several vegetarian and non-vegetarian pizza options, pasta, and Pepsi products.

  • 2:30-3:00 – Facilitated Discussion on “The future of interpersonal psychology”

  • 3:45-4:30 – Poster flash talk and discussion (5 minute flash talk)

Call for Presentations

We encourage you to submit presentations/posters to the one-day SITAR conference held on July 20th, 2023 in Evanston, Indiana, USA.

Submission Information

Submissions will be handled online using Microsoft’s Conference Management Toolkit (CMT). To submit a proposal, visit the CMT portal using the link above and create an account. Then log in, click the “Create New Submission” button and follow the instructions. Questions regarding the CMT portal can be emailed to the web chair. Submissions are due on April 15, 2023. EXTENDED to May 1, 2023.

Registration

You can register for the conference at the Registration page. Registration fees are:

  • $75 for Student Members ($100 for Student Non-Members)
  • $125 for Professional Members ($175 for Professional Non-Members)

Presentation Formats

Poster Presentations can be used to report a completed research project, pilot study, or work-in-progress. Oral Presentations are generally reserved for completed research studies, although theoretical and methodological papers will also be considered.

Grants and Awards

A limited number of travel grants for SITAR graduate student members will be available. To apply for a travel grant, select the “Consider me for a Graduate Student Travel Grant” option while registering for the conference. Applicants will need to be or to become a graduate student member of SITAR in order to be considered for an award.

To apply for an award, select the “award” option while submitting your proposal to the conference. The Jerry S. Wiggins Award for Outstanding Interpersonal Research award is for student presentations, and all undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply. The Leonard M. Horowitz Award for Outstanding Interpersonal Research is an award for a poster presentation and is available to all. We ask that you submit your presentation/poster in advance to assist us in the judging process. Details about how to submit your presentation/poster will be announced at a later date.
