Call for Presentations

Greetings, SITAR members and past conference attendees!

We write to announce the date for a virtual 2022 SITAR conference. Earlier this year, the majority of respondents expressed interest in gathering virtually again. Accordingly, we are excited to offer another opportunity for SITAR-style sharing of interpersonal research and applications. The conference will take place on July 29-30 on two half-day afternoons (Eastern Standard Time) to limit “Zoom fatigue.” For presenters whose time zones make that timing unfeasible, we will consider alternative options (e.g., pre-recorded talks).

Once again, gathering virtually and hosting ourselves will maintain the SITAR “feel” of a small gathering and keep conference fees low. As usual, we will prioritize graduate students’ live talks and posters while welcoming presenters at all career stages.

We look forward to connecting with you this summer!

-Thane Erickson & SITAR Executive Committee

Submission Information

Submissions are now closed.

Registration

Registration is now closed. Fees are $0 for Student Members, $25 for Student Non-Members, $50 for Professional Members, and $100 for Professional Non-Members. Note that you will need to be logged in to your free SITAR account to register (this will be the same account used last year and password reset is available on the login screen).

Presentation Formats

Virtual Poster Presentations
Poster Presentations can be used to report a completed research project, pilot study, or work-in-progress. A virtual poster session will put each presenter into a separate Zoom breakout room where they can share their screen and show their poster. Attendees will be able to join these breakout rooms to view and discuss the posters. To ensure that posters are visible on a shared screen, we recommend using a large font size (you may also save your poster as a PDF so that you can zoom in on specific parts more easily).

Virtual Oral Presentations
Oral Presentations are generally reserved for completed research studies, although theoretical and methodological papers will also be considered. Virtual oral presentations will involve live (or, in special circumstances, pre-recorded) presentations in the main conference Zoom room. Each oral presentation will include a 10-minute talk and a 5-minute discussion period.

Online Record
Presenters are encouraged (but not required) to upload their posters and oral presentations to the Open Science Framework so that they can be accessed after the meeting and by interested parties that were not able to attend. We will set up a meeting portal to group all the SITAR2022 presentations together. Adding your presentation will be as easy as sending an email. More details to follow soon!

Grants and Awards

Wiggins Student Award
To apply for the Jerry S. Wiggins Student Award for Outstanding Interpersonal Research, select the “Wiggins Award” option while submitting a proposal to the conference. The award is presented annually by the Society of Interpersonal Theory and Research in order to recognize and promote outstanding student research in interpersonal psychology. One award is given for the best student oral presentation given at the annual SITAR conference. More information can be found here.

Poster Award
To apply for the Poster Award, select the “Poster Award” option while submitting a proposal to the conference. After acceptance of the submission, posters should be submitted via email to the awards committee. The poster award is open to anyone – not just students! We will use a two-part judging process: The Awards Committee will evaluate the posters before the conference, creating a list of the top choices. At the conference, judges will then visit the posters of the top applicants in order to assess presentation style before determining the winner. The winner will be announced via email and SITAR listserve following the conference.
